It’s taken a while, but the website is now finally completed and fully operational so welcome to the new GraphicFeed!

As you’ll of been able to see from viewing the site so far it is a relatively small site but it is my intention to continually add content to it, many of which shall be blog posts like this one filled with my musings / ramblings of graphic design, job searching and everything else me.

That said, it’s not quite complete just yet, as if you are reading this you will of undoubtedly noticed that the blog styling doesn’t quite fit with the rest of the site, but rest assured that will be sorted relatively soon (hopefully at least).

Most sites go through a variety of redesigns in their life cycle, for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it’s due to popular styles changing and thus site owners strive to ensure their sites don’t look outdated, other times it’s because the owner is attempting to convey a different message, and other times it’s quite simply because the technology has advanced. So without further ado, here’s where GraphicFeed has been…

Version 1

Version 2

Version 2 was somewhat more daring, featuring excessive use of javascript and a far less conventional layout, which in turn became it’s downfall. With the design i’d opted to mute the colours and add complementary shades rather than contrasting, intended to draw more focus to the content contained in the main content area rather than the design itself.

Version 3

I don’t really need to screenshot this one… you are looking at it right now. Basically, I was still rather keen on the general styling of Version 2, but as i’ve said, that suffered from usability issues, as such it has some similarities. The main difference with 3 is that I have opted to revert to vertical scrolling (whilst still framing by making the header and footer float) rather than horizontal scrolling to allow me to open up the site and make things a bit bigger and free flowing.

I’ve introduced myself vaguely in the About section so I will use this space here to say just a little bit more about myself, about my personality, my hobbies and what makes me tick.

Let’s start off with the basics; i’m an avid football fan, following Arsenal for as long as I can remember. Naturally I enjoy playing the game too, even if I rarely ever do these days due to thing’s ‘getting in the way’. That would mainly be excessive amounts of american TV (at the moment i’m going through a marathon of Psych, which is somewhat hilarious) as well as video gaming, as sadly I do just about fit the usual computer geek stereotype.

Along with the above I naturally spend a fair amount of time browsing the web (let’s face it; everyone does) as well as spending time with our family dog, a 5 year old German Shepherd named Cleo. Walking her is actually one of my favourite things to do if the weather is nice, as taking her across the nearby fields in seclusion whilst listening to my iPhone really cannot be beat. In fact, up on those fields is probably the best place for me to clear my head and let my imagination run wild. That’s all for now!
